Acupuncture

Acupuncture Used for muscular or back and neck pain, joint pain relief, sports injuries, headaches and arthritis. Many people who suffer from long term pain can become frustrated and depressed. Research shows that acupuncture is a highly effective technique that stimulates the brain to produce natural pain relieving chemicals which assists the body to heal itself and reduce pain. Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) is an advanced acupuncture technique which may be the answer to a long term pain problem. The needle is inserted into the problem muscle. The muscle ‘grasps’ the needle and when eases, usually results in pain relief. Our IMS practitioners may combine their training in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Intra-Muscular Stimulation with traditional physiotherapy treatment for effective results. Only sterile, disposable needles are used and our Physiotherapists are members of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists and certified by the National Blood Service.

Biomechanical analysis

Used to observe and analyse the biomechanics of your body force and movments whilst still or in motion in order to gain a greater understanding of athletic performance and to reduce sport injuries. Biomechanical analysis will help identify any faulty mechanics of the body which may be a cause of your pains or aches. Certain spinal or lower limb problems could be corrected through the use of tailor-made Orthotics and specific rehabilitation exercise programme.

Gait Scan & Orthotics

Our GaitScan™ System is a technologically advanced gait analysis system used for diagnosis of your walking or running pattern problem through the use of State-of-the-Art Computerised equipment. As you walk across the pressure plate, thousnads of tiny sensors capture the distribution of pressure of your foot over time. From your step, the computer displays 2D and 3D visual represntations of the pressure under your feet, the Physiotherapist will show you the images taken of your walking pattern on the computer and explain to you what the causes are and how to correct those through physiotherapy, education and possibly tailor-made orthotics which are known to be remarkably effective.

Massage

Massage has a profound positive effect on health by maximising the body’s potential for regeneration and recovery. It can promote a feeling of wellbeing – calms and soothes – and can also have a stimulating, refreshing and invigorating effect. Deep tissue massage is one of the most popular ways to help your body relax and recuperate, whether as treatment following physical training or as a form of relaxation. With a focus on the deeper muscle tissue layers, this form of massage is designed to release tension in the body using a variety of slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the affected areas. If you have been training hard for a sporting event, you may find yourself with some aches and strains. Not only is this likely to affect your performance, it may also grow worse over time. Sports massage helps to ease these complaints by relaxing muscles and improving circulation.

Ergonomic Assessments

Ergonomics help eliminate many potential injuries and disorders associated with the overuse of muscles, bad posture and repeated tasks. Ergonomics designs work spaces, controls, displays, tools, lighting and equipment to fit the employee’s physical capabilities and limitations. This involves arranging the environment to fit the person in it which could involve your workplace, home or sporting life. When ergonomics is applied correctly in the work environment, visual and muscular/joint discomfort and tiredness are reduced significantly along with stress.
